The mechanics are easy - you pay us, and we broadcast your message!
I'm not sure my product is suitable for radio advertising
You'd be surprised at the range of things advertised on our radio station - everything from psychic readers to cream teas! Of course, some things aren't allowed, and adverts have to be legal, decent and truthful. We like our ads to be tasteful as well, but there's always space for the slightly outrageous! We can handle the legal 'script clearance' that's needed and advise you on how to comply with any special requirements.
What if I don't want to sell a specific product, but want to get my name or service better known, or simply want to support the radio station from my business?
Adverts can work just as well for you, but you could also talk to us about programme or feature sponsorship. Contribute to the production costs of a specific programme series or time slot, and have your name, business activities and phone number or website acknowledged and associated with the programme to raise your business profile.
I make music - can my own music go in the advert?
Definitely - you can produce your own backing music, and if you've composed it yourself you won't need to make any performance or copyright payments either. And if it's music you're selling, what better way than to play some of it in an advert. If you're a poet, how about sponsoring a poetry spot? Or maybe you write short stories and woudl like to get them to a wider audience...
What about production costs - I've heard it costs a fortune to get a radio advert produced?
You can spend a fortune if you want, but you really don't have to. And if you don't have the resources to produce the advert for yourself, don't worry - we can produce it for you in our studios in Gairloch. We have a wide range of voices available and a very extensive library of production music - there's sure to be something to suit you. It really isn't expensive or difficult - ask for a quote. We could even produce adverts for you for other stations.
You're in a rural area - I don't just want to advertiser to fishermen and crofters!
You'd be amazed at the range of people and businesses located in the north-west Highlands. We have our share of wealthy city execs, pop stars, big property owners and so on, as well of course as many other businesses and residents in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. We can also help you reach the thousands of UK and overseas visitors who pass through the area or stay in holiday homes here. And now we also broadcast on the Internet, allowing your message to reach potential customers all over the world.
You're a small station, what if I want to cover a larger area?
Haven't you heard that small is beautiful?! Seriously, we are a small independent station, that's why we can offer excellent rates. Two Lochs Radio broadcasts from the heart of Wester Ross in Scotland, but we do cover a wide geographic area - the size of a big city at least, and we have a lot of people passing through the area as well as residents. We also have no other local commercial station to compete with. But if you want to go wider, we can negotiate a package including our neighbouring stations to cover thousands of square miles of the north-west. Just ask, and we'll see what we can do. And you could always run the same advert on your local community radio station - they'd love to hear from you, especially with a ready-made advert.
I heard you were selling radio adverts on eBay? Can I take you seriously?
Absolutely! eBay themselves are selling radio advertising on small-town stations in the US. Get ahead of the game and try it out here and now in the UK. You'd be in good company - we run adverts not just for local businesses, but also for the Police, Scottish Executive, the Co-op, Specsavers, HM Revenue & Customs, Local Enterprise companies and others.
Okay - you've sold me on the idea, but how is it actually priced?
Well it's £9.60 or less for a 30s air slot for a ready-made
ad. You can book as many or as few as you want, but if you book more
than ten then big discounts start to kick in. For example, if you book 40 slots,
then the price per slot drops right down to £5.60 each. You can also book longer
slots at discounted rates. Production costs are on top, but we offer bargain
rates for simple voice adverts starting from just £20. All you have
to do is get in touch and we'll be as helpful as we possibly can.
Note that all our rates are subject to VAT, unless you are a registered charity or buying from outside the EC.
